My December column for Newsline is just out and focuses on the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens this weekend.
It will be released into a very different media landscape to that encountered by the original film in 1977. It’s now a broadband world in which TV is in its Imperial phase but is it really as different as we like to think? Effectively the first Star Wars trilogy ensured there still is a cinema industry 38 years later, but its influence has not all been positive.
I have my tickets for this Saturday night and I am praying it isn’t the Phantom Menace all over again. However the glowing previews this morning are making me very optimistic! You can read the article here
